Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 episode 3 recap

In the third episode of season two of ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’, titled ‘Rabbits Don’t Swim’, the Jacobite uprising moves to the forefront of the narrative. As Dougal and the MacKenzie men depart for battle against the redcoats, Castle Leoch is left under the leadership of Colum and a smaller group of residents.

The absence of the clan's warriors leaves the castle vulnerable to MacKinney, an opportunist who seeks to claim the lairdship of the MacKenzie clan. MacKinney’s arrival coincides with internal family tensions, specifically between Colum and his elder sister, Ellen. While Colum struggles with the responsibility of managing the clan in his father's absence, Ellen faces challenges regarding her authority and the security of the clan's lands, which she had previously sought to secure in her own name.

The episode also explores the personal toll of the conflict on the family, including a significant death within the MacKenzie household and growing friction between the siblings.
