Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 explores character conflicts and memory loss
In the fifth episode of ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ Season 2, the protagonists face escalating personal and political conflicts amidst the Jacobite uprising. Brian MacKenzie and Henry find themselves on opposing sides of the battlefield, while Ellen faces an old enemy during her journey to Leoch.
Simultaneously, Julia faces a confrontation with Seema at Castle Leather. The tension stems from a past affair between Henry and Seema, which occurred while Henry was grieving the perceived loss of his wife and unborn child. Seema, driven by an infatuation with the affection Henry showed her, seeks to eliminate Julia from his life.
Regarding the series' narrative themes, actor Jeremy Irvine and executive producer Maril Davis have addressed concerns regarding Henry’s memory loss and PTSD. While time travel and electroshock therapy have exacerbated his condition, the characters are depicted as proactively working toward healing despite Henry’s ongoing struggle to distinguish reality from his mental lapses.
