Over 60 migrants leave Ceuta's CETI centre for mainland Spain under humanitarian program

More than 60 migrants housed in the Centre for Temporary International Stay (CETI) in Ceuta began a journey to the Spanish mainland on Wednesday. The group included 62 young people from Chad and Sudan and a Moroccan family with two children. After gathering their belongings, they were transported to the maritime station and boarded a ferry bound for Algeciras.

Upon arrival, each individual will be transferred to different reception facilities across the peninsula, where they will receive temporary accommodation, comprehensive care, Spanish language classes and employment guidance. The relocation is part of a state‑run humanitarian assistance scheme coordinated by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and overseen by the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR). The program aims to relieve pressure on the overcrowded CETI centre, which has recently struggled to provide adequate shelter for its residents.

Officials said the move will help prevent situations such as migrants sleeping on the streets and will facilitate the integration of the newcomers into Spanish society.
