Oxley Police investigate violent crime spree and kidnapping
Oxley police are investigating a violent overnight crime spree involving three young males that included home invasions, vehicle thefts, and a kidnapping. The incident began between midnight and 2:00 a.m. on Monday when a house in Hillvue was ransacked and a BMW sedan was stolen.
Following the initial theft, the suspects used the BMW to commit further crimes. At a hotel on Gunnedah Road, the group used a machete to threaten occupants of two rooms, stealing cash, personal belongings, and the keys to a Mazda station wagon and a Toyota SUV.
The spree culminated near Armidale Road when the suspects confronted a man in a parked vehicle. After failing to obtain cash through robbery, the group detained the man and forced him into a stolen vehicle. They drove him to an ATM on Peel Street in an attempt to coerce him into withdrawing money, though the attempt was unsuccessful. No injuries were reported during the incidents.
