Oxley Police crime spree and kidnapping investigation

Overview

Police in the Oxley Police District are investigating a violent crime spree that occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 7. The incidents included a home invasion in Hillvue where a BMW sedan was stolen, followed by a series of robberies at a motel in Westdale. During the motel robberies, suspects allegedly used a machete to threaten occupants and steal cash and vehicle keys.

The spree concluded when a group approached a man in East Tamworth, forced him into a stolen vehicle, and drove him to an ATM on Peel Street in an attempt to coerce a withdrawal. While the victim was located uninjured, the suspects remain at large. Investigators have released CCTV footage and are seeking two men of medium build wearing black hooded jerseys and face coverings.
