Oyo State police deny false reports on kidnapped teachers, pupils and alleged helicopter transfer

The Oyo State Police Command rejected circulating claims that High Chief Tajudeen Abioye, the Elesinle of Esinle, was invited for questioning over the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area. Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade called the report false, misleading and part of a deliberate misinformation campaign.

The command also labeled a video suggesting the abducted victims had been moved to Kaduna State by helicopter as entirely false and unverified. Authorities emphasized that intensive rescue operations are ongoing, urged the public to rely on official information, and warned against spreading unverified content that could jeopardise security efforts.
