Oyo State Police Free Kidnapped Couple Without Injuries

The Oyo State Police Command rescued Alhaji Busiru Booni and his wife Alhaja Pitiku after they were abducted by a group of about five armed men in Tiro Village, Irawo, Oke‑Ogun on the night of 5 July 2026. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed a joint operation that included the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters. A stolen Bajaj motorcycle recovered in a nearby bush helped locate the kidnappers' hideout, leading to a gun clash in which the abductors fled wounded and abandoned the victims.

The couple were rescued unhurt, taken to a medical facility for evaluation, discharged in stable condition and reunited with their family. Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious injuries or activities to aid ongoing efforts to apprehend the criminals.
