P-Square brothers face legal dispute over royalties and brand control

The long-standing dispute between the members of the Nigerian pop duo P-Square has escalated into legal battles over royalties, financial records, and brand control. Peter Okoye recently released a video series detailing alleged financial irregularities involving his brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye, and the companies associated with the P-Square brand.

Jude Okoye, the brothers' former manager, has maintained that all disputed payments and backend data were handled correctly and that the matters are currently before the courts. While Paul Okoye has maintained a neutral stance, the conflict highlights the structural risks of family-run businesses operating without precise written agreements.

Amidst the public feud, Peter Okoye’s clothing brand, Zipp Republic, experienced a significant commercial surge. Following the release of his video series, the brand reported selling nearly 3,000 units of a specific red cap in seven days. At a retail price of N20,000 each, this resulted in over N60 million in sales, prompting plans for the brand to expand into sportswear and children’s items.
