Pablo Cervi elected secretary of Argentina's Energy Commission

The Argentine Senate has appointed new authorities for the Commission of Mining, Energy, and Fuels, a body central to the Vaca Muerta energy agenda. Senator Pablo Cervi of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) was elected as secretary, a move that displaced Julieta Corroza, a senator representing Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa.

The new leadership includes Flavia Royón as president and Flavio Fama as vice president. The decision was reportedly finalized following a meeting involving LLA block leader Patricia Bullrich. The appointment of Cervi caused tension, as the Neuquén provincial government expected the position to be held by a representative of Governor Figueroa.

Following the election, the commission held a plenary session with the Budget and Finance Commission to discuss a new biofuels framework. The session faced procedural challenges, including a temporary lack of quorum after Senator Corroza reportedly left the meeting upon learning of the decision.
