Pablo Lemus accuses Tonalá Mayor of hindering infrastructure works

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus has accused Tonalá Mayor Sergio Chávez of hindering high-impact infrastructure projects due to a lack of coordination and a pattern of political confrontation. Lemus stated that while he seeks collaborative work to improve quality of life across the state's 125 municipalities, Chávez's approach has prevented the progress of state-led works, particularly regarding mobility and public transport rights-of-way.

The dispute follows criticisms from Chávez regarding the operation of the Intermunicipal System of Potable Water and Sewerage Services (SIAPA), where the mayor argued that state investment is insufficient and the agency requires fundamental reform.

Lemus further noted that Chávez has maintained confrontational stances with three successive state administrations, including those of Aristóteles Sandoval and Enrique Alfaro. The Governor emphasized that despite political differences, his administration remains willing to work with mayors of all parties, citing ongoing investments in various municipalities.
