PAC Milano Celebrates 30 Years of Gardella Pavilion Reconstruction

The Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea (PAC) in Milan, originally designed by architect Ignazio Gardella between 1948 and 1954, was rebuilt by Gardella together with his son Jacopo Gardella from 1993 to 1996 after the Via Palestro bombing in 1993. The museum reopened in July 1996.

To mark the thirty‑year anniversary, the exhibition “Architettura alla prova” has been installed in the Project Room. Curated by Claudia Cavallo with support from the Politecnico di Milano, the show examines the civil and symbolic role of architecture, using the themes of ruins and reconstruction to explore how rebuilding can be a political and cultural act.
