Pace Digitek awarded INR 7.1 bn contract for 250 MW battery storage project in Tamil Nadu

NLC India announced the winner of its auction to install a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at three Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation substations – Ottapidaram, Annupankulam and Kayathar. The EPC contract was secured by Pace Digitek Ltd, whose energy‑storage arm Lineage Power will supply the turnkey solution for a total price of INR 7.099 million (including GST), roughly US$73.6 million.

The scope covers design, engineering, manufacturing, erection, testing, commissioning and a 12‑year operation‑and‑maintenance service. The system must achieve at least 87% round‑trip efficiency in the first year and 85% thereafter, with 95% availability. Commercial operation is targeted within 12 months of the award, and the contract includes warranties on equipment and power conversion systems.
