Pacific Ocean low-pressure zones under watch for potential cyclonic development

The National Water Commission (Conagua) and the National Meteorological Service (SMN) are monitoring two low-pressure zones in the Pacific Ocean with the potential for cyclonic development over the next seven days.

The first system, located south of the coasts of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero, has a 70% probability of development and could become tropical cyclone Iselle. The second system, situated west-southwest of the Baja California peninsula, maintains a 50% probability of development.

These atmospheric conditions, influenced by the Mexican monsoon and tropical waves, are expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and high waves to various Mexican states. Sinaloa and Nayarit are projected to receive the most intense precipitation, with accumulations between 75 and 150 millimeters. Additionally, a heatwave is affecting northern Mexico, with temperatures in Baja California and Sonora potentially exceeding 45 degrees Celsius.
