Overview

Meteorological services continue to monitor several low-pressure zones in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans for potential cyclonic development.

In the Pacific, the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the National Meteorological Service (SMN) are tracking systems that have seen increased development probabilities. A system south of the Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero coasts now has a 90 percent probability of developing into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours. If it forms, it could become the third active cyclone in the region, joining Hurricane Karina and Tropical Storm Lowell. A second system west-southwest of the Baja California peninsula maintains a 50 percent probability of development. These conditions are expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and high waves to various Mexican states, with Sinaloa and Nayarit projected to receive intense precipitation. In Veracruz, Conagua reports that a low-pressure channel and tropical wave 34 will bring heavy rains and thunderstorms to several river basins, including the Tonalá and Coatzacoalcos rivers.

In the Atlantic and Gulf regions, surveillance remains active. A low-pressure zone north of the Yucatán Peninsula has reached a 50 percent chance of cyclonic development, prompting monitoring in Quintana Roo. In the Gulf of Mexico, meteorologists warn that a tropical depression or storm, potentially named Edouard, may form near the Louisiana coast and move toward the Texas-Louisiana border, bringing heavy rainfall and potential flooding to Southeast Texas, including Houston.

In the Dominican Republic, INDOMET continues to monitor weather patterns, while the region remains subject to extreme heat and variable weather caused by tropical waves and troughs.
