Poland issues health warnings for herbal tea and synthetic cannabinoids
The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued a warning regarding a specific batch of herbal tea produced by Herbapol-Lublin S.A. Testing by the National Institute of Public Health PZH confirmed that the product, ‘Zielnik Polski’ nettle tea (20 bags), exceeds permissible levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids. These toxins can pose a real health risk. The affected batch is identified by number L 0036 with an expiration date of 01.2028. The manufacturer has initiated a product recall.
Separately, the Ministry of Health is moving to regulate HHCP-O (hexahydrocannabiforol acetate), a semi-synthetic cannabinoid. This substance, which does not occur naturally in cannabis, has been detected twice in Poland by the Police Forensic Laboratory. It is often found in vaporizers, cartridges, and pre-rolled products. Experts recommend expanding the list of controlled substances to address the rapid emergence of such chemical variants on the market.
