Padel sees rising popularity and international growth in South America

Padel is experiencing significant growth across South America, highlighted by a major national tournament in Rosario, Argentina, scheduled for October 10–12. Organized by Padel Argentino Federal (PAF), the event expects over 500 pairs representing 18 federations to compete across various divisions.

In Venezuela, padel and running have evolved into widespread social phenomena. The sport's rising international profile was recently marked by its debut as an official discipline at the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026, with Venezuelan athletes participating in both male and female categories.

Medical experts note that the popularity of these sports comes with injury risks. Studies indicate that between 40% and 70% of padel players experience injuries, commonly affecting the elbow, Achilles tendon, knee, ankle, and shoulder. Similarly, between 50% and 75% of amateur runners report at least one injury annually, frequently involving the knee, plantar fascia, or Achilles tendon.
