Paderborn former Siemens Nixdorf site set for forced auction

The former Nixdorf and Siemens Nixdorf industrial site at Almepark in Paderborn is scheduled for a forced auction on December 2 at the Paderborn District Court. The complex, which opened in 1989, has stood vacant for years and serves as a symbol of the decline of the German computer industry.

While the land value is estimated at approximately 10.1 million euros, the property's market value is cited at around 5 million euros. This discrepancy is attributed to the desolate condition of the 40,000 square meters of office space, which experts deem unusable. High demolition and disposal costs, estimated at 5 million euros, make renovation difficult.

The site was once home to major IT companies including Nixdorf, Siemens Nixdorf, and Fujitsu. A previous attempt to transform the 120,000 square meter site into a technology quarter through a 200 million euro investment plan by Essen-based Fakt AG failed after the company went into insolvency in 2022.
