Padma Bridge railing damaged in passenger bus crash

A passenger bus traveling from Magura to Dhaka crashed on the Mawa ramp of the Padma Bridge in Munshiganj on Monday. The New Green Line Express bus lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed, striking the bridge's railings on both sides before overturning on the slope.

According to Executive Engineer Abu Sayad, approximately 50 meters of the eastern side railing was damaged. While the road surface sustained minor marks, the structural integrity of the bridge remains intact. Repairs are estimated to cost between 150,000 and 200,000 BDT and may take six to seven days to complete.

Fire service personnel rescued eight injured passengers from the bus, who were subsequently transported to the Shrinagar Upazila Health Complex. Traffic on the bridge was briefly halted for about 10 minutes before resuming in a single lane following the removal of the vehicle.
