PAGASA warns of thunderstorms and flood risks in Negros Oriental and Mindanao

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued weather advisories for parts of the Philippines, warning of thunderstorms and potential flooding.

In Negros Oriental, the southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is expected to bring intermittent rainshowers and intense afternoon thunderstorms. While no tropical cyclone is currently threatening the area, meteorologists warn that these storms can produce localized heavy downpours, strong winds, and lightning.

Across Mindanao, residents are facing similar conditions with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rainshowers. PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous and flood-prone communities. The weather pattern is expected to affect the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
