Pakatan Harapan considers electoral understanding for Melaka polls

Pakatan Harapan (PH) election director Amirudin Shari has stated that the proposed ‘PH Plus’ arrangement for the upcoming Melaka state elections would likely function as an electoral understanding rather than a formal new coalition. Amirudin noted that there is insufficient time to establish a new coalition before the polls, though a political understanding remains a possibility.

PH is currently evaluating various scenarios for the Melaka elections, including contesting solo, forming new alliances, or cooperating with Barisan Nasional (BN). Amirudin indicated that PH is prepared to move forward with preparations and machinery mobilization regardless of whether BN shows interest in cooperation. He expressed a need to gather more details from state-level discussions before referring the ‘PH Plus’ proposal to the central PH leadership.

State PH chairman Adly Zahari previously mentioned that negotiations are being finalized with parties sharing similar aspirations, such as Bersatu. While talks with federal partner BN have not yet commenced, PH remains focused on meeting the current requirements of the state election landscape.
