Pakistan carried out air strikes in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday night, targeting residential areas in Kunar, Khost and Paktika provinces. The attacks killed 13 civilians – 11 children, a woman and an elderly man – and injured 14 others.

Taliban spokesperson Jabihullah Mujahid condemned the operation, accusing Pakistan of violating Afghanistan’s sovereignty and striking non‑combatants. The incident has sharply heightened tensions between the two neighbours, which have been strained since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
