Pakistan airstrikes kill 11 children in Afghanistan

On the night of 10 June 2026, the Pakistani army breached Afghan airspace and bombed civilian homes in the eastern provinces of Kunar, Host and Paktika. The attacks killed at least 12 civilians – 11 children, a woman and an elderly man – and injured many more, according to Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

Mujahid condemned the strikes as a "humanitarian crime and act of aggression" and said that Pakistan has repeatedly violated Afghanistan’s airspace while alleging that Afghan territory shelters militants of Tehrik‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS‑K. The United Nations reports that civilian casualties in the cross‑border conflict have already reached several hundred since the start of the year. The violence follows a series of clashes that began in February 2026, raising fears of further displacement of Afghan civilians toward Iran, Turkey and Europe.
