Pakistan airstrikes kill at least 13 in Afghanistan's border provinces

The Taliban-led Afghan government says Pakistan conducted air attacks on the border provinces of Khost, Kunar and Paktika, killing at least 13 people and injuring 14. The strikes occurred amid ongoing border clashes that have been continuing since the end of February, when fighting between the two sides escalated. Pakistan has not confirmed the attacks. The conflict has already resulted in hundreds of deaths.

Both Afghan and international Reuters reports cite Taliban spokesperson Sabihullah Mudschahid for the casualty figures. The incident adds to the heightened tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan over accusations of each side harboring militant groups that carry out attacks across the border.
