Pakistan and Türkiye discuss regional security and R4 meeting

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. The ministers coordinated on upcoming multilateral engagements, specifically the forthcoming meeting of the Regional Four (R4) foreign ministers in Istanbul.

The R4 framework, which includes Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, was established earlier this year to intensify consultations on regional crises and promote stability. This diplomatic coordination follows a landmark defense agreement signed on August 7, 2026, between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. That agreement established a collective security mechanism, stating that aggression against one member would be considered aggression against all three.
