Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir warns of broader India conflict and brands past attacks false flags

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, has reignited tensions with India by calling the 2008 Mumbai attacks and the 2019 Pulwama bombing "false‑flag operations" and warning that any future Indian action could trigger a far‑wider war. His remarks come a year after India’s May 2025 Operation Sindoor, which Pakistan describes as its "Marka‑e‑Haq" response and which saw extensive air, missile and drone strikes that damaged Pakistani airfields and terror camps.

In a speech at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Munir said the next conflict would not be limited, emphasizing Pakistan’s “Full Spectrum Deterrence” doctrine and detailing a shift toward multi‑domain warfare that integrates cyber, electronic, drone and artificial‑intelligence capabilities. He noted the creation of a Defense Forces Headquarters and an Army Rocket Force Command as part of this transformation. Munir also framed the 2025 clash as an ideological battle, portraying Pakistan’s forces as defenders of national truth against Indian “falsehood.”
