Pakistan Chairs 12th SCO Border Services Meeting in Islamabad

Pakistan hosted the 12th meeting of the heads of border services of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Islamabad. The summit was attended by senior officials from Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, alongside the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti‑Terrorist Structure.

Participants exchanged assessments of border‑security conditions, approved the results of the joint operation “Solidarity‑2025”, and endorsed a plan for a follow‑up “Solidarity‑2026”. They also supported Tajikistan’s proposal to host the next joint operation in 2027. Iran’s border‑guard commander, Brigadier General Ali Akbar Javidan, said Tehran seeks deeper cooperation on security, information sharing and combating drug trafficking, organised crime and smuggling. The meeting aimed to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation among SCO member states’ border services.

Pakistan holds the SCO chairmanship from September 2026 to August 2027, during which it will host the organisation’s summit and related activities.
