Pakistan is bracing for significant political unrest as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares a long march to Islamabad on September 27, demanding the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Authorities have implemented extensive security measures. In Islamabad, over 23,000 security personnel are being deployed, and the Red Zone has been sealed. Shipping containers have been placed along major roads to block movement. Several key highways, including the M-1 and M-14 motorways and parts of the GT Road, have been closed to traffic.

In Punjab, the provincial government has declared Section 144, banning public gatherings of more than five people until October 5. The government has also requested the deployment of Rangers and army personnel in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Mianwali. There are proposals to restrict or suspend mobile and internet services in parts of Attock and Rawalpindi.

Due to the heightened security environment, several universities near Islamabad and Rawalpindi, including HITEC University Taxila and COMSATS University, have shifted classes to an online format. Hospitals in Islamabad have been placed on high alert, with instructions to maintain emergency readiness and reserve medical supplies.
