Mohsin Naqvi to visit Tehran for bilateral discussions

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is traveling to Tehran to engage in bilateral discussions with Iranian officials. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, the visit is intended to follow up on previous understandings reached at the leadership level between the two nations.

While there has been speculation regarding whether Naqvi is carrying a specific message or proposal from the United States, Baghaei stated that Iran has no information to support such claims. He emphasized that the visit is strictly within the framework of bilateral relations. However, he noted that as a mediator in regional tensions, Pakistan may naturally use the opportunity to raise broader regional issues.

The diplomatic mission occurs amid heightened tensions in West Asia, including conflicts involving the Houthis in Yemen and maritime security concerns. Additionally, Iranian officials have reiterated that the lifting of sanctions and the end of naval blockades remain essential conditions for regional stability and the normalization of relations.
