Pakistan Interior Minister Naqvi travels to Tehran for Iran-US mediation talks

Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi has traveled to Tehran to engage in talks with Iranian officials as part of ongoing mediation efforts to resolve the conflict between Iran and the United States.

Pakistan, supported by Gulf nations such as Qatar, is acting as a central mediator. This follows the signing of the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ in June, which established a 60-day window for peace talks. While a summit was previously held in Switzerland, recent escalations and military strikes caused previous negotiations to collapse.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif indicated in a recent interview that the US and Iran may be close to “some sort of an arrangement,” noting that recent signals suggest progress toward a peace deal. The conflict has been significantly impacted by the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that remains a focal point of regional tensions.
