Pakistan International Airlines regains 14 Heathrow slots

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has recovered 14 landing slots at London’s Heathrow Airport, facilitating an expansion of its flight operations in the United Kingdom. The airline plans to increase its capacity under the winter schedule starting in October.

Under the new arrangements, weekly services from Islamabad to London are expected to increase from three to five flights. Additionally, Lahore-to-London operations are projected to rise from one to two weekly flights. This expansion is also intended to improve connectivity for passengers traveling from Karachi and Sialkot to London via the airline’s network.

The recovery follows a period where PIA had to surrender capacity due to restrictions on its European operations. In 2022, seven slots had been temporarily allocated to foreign carriers, including six to Turkish Airlines and one to Kuwait Airways, following a suspension of flights by European authorities.
