Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft and issues 750-km NOTAM

Pakistan has extended its airspace restrictions on Indian-registered aircraft, including military flights, until September 24. The decision, issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority, applies to both the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions. This ban is a reciprocal measure following the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April 2025.

Separately, Pakistan issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for August 19 and 20, restricting a 750-kilometer stretch of airspace. While the official reason was not provided, the scale of the restriction has prompted defense experts to speculate about a potential test of the Fatah-series missile systems, specifically the Fatah-3 supersonic missile.

Concurrently, the Indian Navy issued a NOTAM for live firing exercises in the Arabian Sea from August 15 to 20.
