Pakistan logs more than 3,000 terrorism incidents in 2026
The Pakistan military said 3,145 terrorism‑related incidents occurred in 2026, killing 819 people, including 303 army personnel and 194 police officers. Security forces eliminated 2,084 alleged terrorists, averaging ten kills per day – the highest rate recorded.
The bulk of attacks were in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (1,971 incidents) and Balochistan (1,148 incidents), with 26 incidents elsewhere. Authorities carried out 40,348 intelligence‑based operations, 31,000 of them in Balochistan, and reported 28 suicide bombings, mostly by Afghan nationals. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry criticised claims that Balochistan’s security was worsening, attributing unrest to elite and tribal structures and emphasizing a need for governance reform rather than appeasement.
