Pakistan 2026 counter‑terrorism operations
Entities: Pakistan · Balochistan · Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry · Khyber Pakhtunkhwa · National Action Plan
Overview
In July 2026 the Pakistani military released detailed counter‑terrorism statistics. It reported that 3,145 terrorism‑related incidents occurred across the country, resulting in 819 deaths, including 303 army personnel, 194 police officers and 322 civilians. Security forces eliminated 2,084 alleged terrorists, averaging ten kills per day – the highest rate recorded.
The bulk of the violence was concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (1,971 incidents) and Balochistan (1,148 incidents). Authorities carried out 40,348 intelligence‑based operations, with more than 31,000 in Balochistan, and recorded 28 suicide bombings, most attributed to Afghan nationals. Military officials, led by Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stressed that good governance and constitutional processes are essential for security, rejected negotiations with militants, and argued that the security situation in Balochistan was not deteriorating despite elite and tribal unrest.
