Pakistan marks Day of Exploitation of Kashmir with nationwide rallies
On August 5 each year, Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and supporters worldwide observe “Day of Exploitation of Kashmir” to protest India’s 2019 revocation of the region’s special constitutional status under Article 370. Pakistan describes the move as a violation of UN resolutions, international law and the Kashmiri right to self‑determination.
The day is marked by rallies, seminars, flag displays and a minute of silence. In Islamabad, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Qamar led a procession from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to D‑Chowk, joined by federal secretaries and officials. Similar events were held in other provincial capitals, Gilgit‑Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad.
