Pakistan mourns Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hussain killed in Balochistan counterterror operation

Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hussain, a resident of Sargodha district, died on Tuesday after sustaining injuries during an intelligence‑based counterterror operation in southwestern Balochistan. The Pakistan military said he was killed by "Indian‑sponsored terrorists" during the raid.

Funeral prayers were held at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi and were attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, other federal ministers, senior military officers and his family. The officials praised his bravery and dedication to the nation. He will be buried in his native town with full military honors.

The incident occurs amid Pakistan’s long‑standing insurgency in Balochistan, where separatist militant groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army have been active. The Pakistani government and armed forces reject allegations of neglect and attribute the violence to external sponsors.
