Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir crackdown condemned by Baloch Yakjehti Committee

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) issued a strong condemnation of Pakistani authorities’ actions against the ongoing public movement in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The BYC said security forces resorted to live fire, arbitrary arrests and targeting of civilians, escalating a protest that has lasted more than 52 days and demands fundamental rights, resource access, political autonomy and justice.

The committee warned that the crackdown mirrors broader patterns of suppressing dissent in other marginalised regions of Pakistan. It called on the United Nations, international human‑rights organisations and the global community to investigate the alleged excessive use of force, unlawful arrests and violations of peaceful assembly, and urged diplomatic and legal pressure on Pakistan to comply with international human‑rights obligations.
