Pakistan PM orders PIMS fire inquiry measures within three months
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the implementation of short-term measures from an inquiry report regarding a fatal fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) within three months. The fire, which occurred on August 26 at a nursery in the PIMS Mother and Child Hospital, resulted in the deaths of 14 newborns.
During a meeting to review the inquiry and a performance audit by the Ministry of National Health Services, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to align the hospital with international standards. He directed that the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre provide assistance regarding fire safety systems.
