Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif invites Turkish firms to invest during Istanbul visit
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Istanbul for a two‑day official visit, where he was welcomed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and senior officials. During the trip Sharif met leaders of major Turkish business groups, including Çalık Holding, Albayrak Group and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), and discussed expanding Pakistani‑Turkish economic ties.
Sharif urged the Turkish companies to increase investments in Pakistan across priority sectors such as energy, mining, infrastructure, maritime logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture and privatisation. He highlighted Pakistan’s improving macro‑economic fundamentals, investor‑friendly policies and the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council. The visit also featured a business conference aimed at showcasing opportunities for Turkish investors and reinforcing bilateral trade and defence cooperation.
The meetings covered trade, defence, energy, education, tourism and cultural exchange, and both leaders reaffirmed commitment to deeper collaboration in the region.
