Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Calls for Unity on International Peace Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif used the International Day of Living Together in Peace to urge unity, tolerance and harmony across Pakistan and the world. He stressed that the country's cultural, linguistic and ethnic diversity is a strength and linked his call to the vision of founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Sharif highlighted several government programmes, including the ‘Paigham‑e‑Pakistan’ campaign against extremism, the National Action Plan on Human Rights, a new National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, and a Human Rights Awareness Programme. He noted recent legal reforms banning domestic violence, child marriage and discrimination against minorities, and urged youth, religious scholars and civil society to promote respect and inclusive coexistence.
