Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif urges opposition dialogue and provincial unity
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the National Assembly, reiterating his invitation to opposition parties to join a dialogue on a “Charter of Economy and a Charter of Democracy.” He emphasized that national unity and Pakistan’s interests must rise above political differences and highlighted ongoing development projects, including Rs75 billion of solar panels for Balochistan and a Rs300 billion highway from Gwadar to Chaman.
Sharif also used a simple metaphor, saying “if four brothers have one loaf of bread, they must share it,” to stress that resources should be distributed fairly among the four provinces. He underscored the need for balanced development to strengthen stability and called for cooperation and trust between regions.
The prime minister praised the sacrifices of armed forces and law‑enforcement personnel, noting that 22 soldiers had been martyred three days earlier while fighting terrorists.
