Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launches four‑day China visit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed Islamabad on May 23 for a four‑day official trip to China, accompanied by senior ministers including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. The visit marks the 75th anniversary of Pakistan‑China diplomatic relations and aims to deepen the “All‑Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and expand economic cooperation.

In Hangzhou, Sharif will meet the Zhejiang provincial Party Secretary, chair a Pakistan‑China B2B Investment Conference, and attend signing ceremonies for several MoUs covering information technology, telecommunications, battery energy storage systems, and agriculture. He is also scheduled to tour the Alibaba Group headquarters and finalize cooperation agreements with Chinese business leaders.

The second leg will take him to Beijing, where he will hold high‑level talks with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Discussions will focus on the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor, trade, investment, industrial collaboration, agricultural modernisation, science and technology, and people‑to‑people exchanges, seeking to reinforce political trust and expand practical cooperation.
