Pakistan Prolongs Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft to June 24

Pakistan has extended its ban on Indian civilian and military aircraft using its airspace until 4:59 am on June 24, according to a Notice to Airmen issued on May 19. The restriction covers both of Pakistan’s Flight Information Regions, Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR), and applies to all Indian‑registered airlines and military flights.

The ban, first imposed in late April 2025 after the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor, was previously set to expire on May 24. The renewed extension means Indian flights must continue using longer indirect routes, raising operating costs for airlines and sustaining heightened aviation tensions between the two nuclear‑armed neighbours.
