Pakistan secures seventh LNG shipment from Qatar as regional tensions ease

On Monday the French‑flagged LNG tanker MRAIKH docked at Port Qasim in Karachi, carrying roughly 170,148 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas from Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal. This delivery is Pakistan’s seventh LNG cargo from Qatar since early April.

The cargo, priced at about 13.4 % of Brent crude under a long‑term agreement, supports Islamabad’s strategy to maintain stable gas supplies for households, industry and power generation. The arrival follows heightened uncertainty in the Middle East after recent strikes on Iran and related disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz, with the National Crisis Management Cell coordinating the imports to mitigate supply risks.
