Pakistan security forces kill militants in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Security forces in Pakistan have conducted significant operations against militants in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
In Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, security forces killed at least 10 militants during an exchange of fire in the Shor Parod mountainous range. Sources identified the group as being affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan. This operation follows a recent incident in the Surab district where eight militants were killed after a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated prematurely.
In the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least 15 militants were killed during a clash near Barikot village in the Upper Dir district. The engagement occurred after militants attempted to ambush a joint convoy of police and security forces heading toward the Dubando check post.
Data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies indicates a surge in violence in these regions. During the second quarter of 2026, KP and Balochistan accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities in the country, with KP recording the highest number of incidents and fatalities.
