Pakistan security forces foil border infiltration in Kurram

On October 10, 2026, Pakistani security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Kurram district. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the clash resulted in the deaths of 12 militants, identified as Khwarij and Afghan Taliban personnel. During the engagement, Afghan Taliban posts reportedly opened fire to support the infiltrators.

One Pakistani soldier, Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman, aged 40, was killed during the intense exchange of fire. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari both issued statements praising the bravery of the security forces and condemning the actions of the Afghan Taliban regime.

Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban administration of failing to fulfill international counterterrorism obligations and of facilitating cross-border terrorism. In a separate operation in Balochistan's Barkhan district, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed 10 suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation, recovering a significant amount of weapons and ammunition.
