Pakistan seeks Chinese investment in ports, logistics and healthcare sectors
At the Regional Transit Trade Hub Initiative forum in Beijing, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry invited Chinese companies to expand investments in the country’s maritime, port and logistics infrastructure. He highlighted opportunities to modernise the Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority and Gwadar Port Authority, develop logistics parks, multimodal transport corridors and green shipping initiatives, positioning Pakistan as a regional trade and transshipment hub.
In Islamabad, Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired the Pakistan‑China Pharmaceutical & Healthcare B2B Investment Conference, where 22 agreements worth roughly $629.5 million were signed and MoUs valued at about $800 million were concluded. The deals cover vaccine production, active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing, medical devices, clinical trials and pharmaceutical manufacturing, involving 240 Chinese delegates from 140 firms and 430 Pakistani participants and supporting a new national vaccine production policy.
