Pakistan Shelling Kunar Province Kills Three Civilians, Injures 14

The Taliban said Pakistan artillery fire on the Dangam district of Afghanistan's Kuran province killed three civilians and wounded 14, most of them women and children. The strikes destroyed two schools, a clinic and two mosques, and killed about 80 livestock. Taliban deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat condemned the attacks as violations of Afghan territory, while Afghanistan's foreign ministry summoned the Pakistani charge d’affaires and lodged a protest over the breach of airspace. The ministry warned of “undesirable consequences” if the shelling continues. The incident follows a recent surge in cross‑border exchanges, including earlier strikes on Kunar that injured dozens and hit a university campus. Pakistan has not commented on the allegations, and the two sides have exchanged accusations of harboring militants.

UN figures earlier reported more than 70 deaths in the first two weeks of the border clashes, underscoring the escalating tension between the two neighbours.
