Pakistan: Six soldiers killed in attack on security convoy

At least six Pakistani soldiers, including two officers, were killed during an armed clash with terrorists in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghan border. The military media wing (ISPR) reported that at least eight terrorists involved in the attack on the security forces convoy were also killed.

This incident follows a surge in violence in the region. Two days prior, 22 people, including a police officer, were killed in coordinated attacks in the same province. In one such attack, a vehicle laden with explosives was driven into a mosque entrance within a police complex in Kohat during prayer services.

Islamabad has accused the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan of allowing militants to operate from Afghan territory to organize attacks in Pakistan, an allegation officials in Kabul deny. Tensions between the two neighboring countries have escalated this year, resulting in regular exchanges of fire.
