Pakistan to Invite Indian PM Modi to 2027 SCO Summit in Islamabad

Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesperson announced that, as host of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit scheduled for 2027, Islamabad will extend formal invitations to all member states, including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The SCO, founded in 2001, comprises ten countries – China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Belarus – and the host nation is obliged under SCO protocol to invite each head of state.

The statement was made during a media briefing that also addressed queries about a possible meeting between Indian Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar and his Pakistani counterpart at the ASEAN gathering in Manila, noting that no request for such a bilateral meeting had been received from India.
