Pakistan weather alert: Heavy rain and hailstorms forecast for Islamabad, KP, and Punjab
Severe weather systems are bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across several regions of Pakistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast unsettled weather through October 7, affecting Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, and Dera Ismail Khan.
In Nowshera, heavy rain and hail have already caused damage to crops and orchards, while rising water levels in streams have led to accumulation on roads. The PMD warned that strong winds and lightning could damage vulnerable structures such as mud houses, electricity poles, and solar panels.
Simultaneously, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert for most districts in Punjab for October 6-7. Areas expected to receive rain include Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala. Authorities have warned of potential landslides in hilly regions like Murree and Galiyat, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from dilapidated buildings and stagnant water.
